Inspired by Andy Warhol and his drawings and photos of shoes, Grade 2 made their own photographic compositions thinking about style, shapes and angles.  The children then coloured them in iphoto  and experimented with how different affects changed the look of their photos.

Using their new and improved drawing skills the children then drew shoes from different angles to make it easier for them to make sculptures of them in clay. The drawings were really detailed

The clay was hard to shape and they had to learn to use scoring and sealing to join together the parts, but the results amazed us all.

We glazed the shoes and learnt about magical glazes that change colour when heated and even turn into glass so they go all shiny – we can’t wait to get them back and see what they look like – it might be a big surprise!
